you guys deserved a better fate last night. NJ looked and played like an elite team yesterday, and COMPLETELY dominated that game after about the 9 minute mark of the first. despite that, maclean has his team believing and grinding and finding ways to win. it also doesn't hurt when you have unreal depth in goal.

i'll gladly take the 2 points for my favorite team, but realize that they didn't deserve them (the reverse has happened to ottawa atleast 3 times this year though, so i don't feel TOO bad )

Zidlicky is finally showing what he is capable of.
I have liked what he brings to the table for quite some time, this is what we briught him in for!

Maybe we deserved the 2 points but Ottawa knows how to grind a game out. Very gritty team and if we can't score against them it's our fault.

D'agostini looks like he is just trying not to (frank) up. Once he learns what to do I think he'll start getting things done. He's a very strong skater so that's something at least.

Totally agree on Greene being awesome last night.

I will take this part of my post to rub it into the faces of all of the fans who thought we should trade him.

jussi jokinen got waived today. not that i think we will be able to because i think a bottom team will pick him up, but he could be useful

With him we have to take the good with the bad, even though the bad can be really bad.

Matt D'Agostini was mediocre again. He had a couple hits and a takeaway but didn't put a puck on goal all night. If you're playing top-6 minutes, you need to throw some pucks on net.

- Todd.Cordell

No surprise there. He's not a top-6 forward.

I don't think we need Jokinen, I think the whole lets throw a whole bunch of players that used to score together and see if they come out of their slump isn't really working and we gotta start making some real trades.. Barch Kostopolous D"agostini ponikarovsky and Butler just awful acquistions do they have 5 goals on the year between the 5 of them for us? Nope.. Adding one more wont help our scoring issues

Barch and Kostopoulos were not players that used to score that the Devils were hoping for more from. At all. Also, Butler was a player signed to a two-way contract in the summer...

Jokinen would be a good addition. I think he gets claimed by a team with a high waiver priority but still it would be nice to get him. He had some decent offensive numbers the past 3 seasons. Him on a line with Lokionov and Kovalchuk (once healthy) could be good. And if we end up playing the Canes in the playoffs, at least he won't be against us.

Lou should not sign these tough guys to 2 year contracts. Hasn't worked out. Boulton sucked for us (this guy actually scored a legit hatrick against us) and Barch has done nothing.

Barch has been fine, done everything that's asked of him. I have no problems with that signing, although I agree, Boulton and Peters were dumb moves.

Not saying he is a liability or anything, but he doesn't provide anything in the offensive zone. If anything he hurts us by giving it away. Hasn't chipped in any offense. That isn't is role obviously but you would expect a couple here and there. I know that he will be scratched though once playoffs role around if we make it so I don't really care. He is on a cheap contract too so it isn't a real issue.

He is a lefty and has always been a devil killer.

Lines could look like..
Jokienen- Loktionov- Kovalchuk
Elias- Zajac - Clarkson
Poni- Henrique- Zubrus
Carter- Gionta- Bernier

Or enter D'Agastini in somewhere and the 2 lug nuts.

If NJ continues to play games like last night, not only will they make the playoffs, they'll be hard to beat in the playoffs.

They'd score five goals a game if they'd set themselves up for rebounds and played the "swarm" game, which I saw hints of last year.

As for Zidlicky, now that he sees the edge closing in on him, is he finally showing hints of being a legit o-d man? Or is he just trying to scam himself into another comfortable contract so that he can be a no show again?

I love where the Devils' defense is right now. For the last ten games, they controlled the flow of the game. We can't jump on someone's back for the occasional turn-over that everyone does every once in a while. The offense had 34 shots and only converted 2 of them; that 1 in 17 has to become 1 in 10. The shooting % has to get better and we win 3-2 every game. If your team is shooting 10% and get 27 or 28 shots a game, your offense is fine, and the Devils would be otherwise difficult to beat.

exactly, there's no spot for Jokinen. As much as i'd like to have him, we're good to go with a healthy lineup. I'd rather have him than Poni but it is what it is.

Zubrus-Loktionov-Kovalchuk
Elias-Zajac-Clarkson
Ponikarovsky-Henrique-D'Agostini
Carter-Gionta-Bernier

If Gionta is out for an extended period of time I wouldn't be surprised to see Josefson back. Poni and D'Agostini were our moves. Butler and Tedenby didn't work out so here we are. We remain 1 Parise shy of an elite group of forwards, but these guys can get the job done.
I'm just glad to see Zajac playing better.

on second thought.. Carter-Jokinen-Bernier? Jokinen-Josefson-Bernier? doesn't quite look like a 4th line anymore. I don't see a spot for him in the top 9 unless Poni moves down, which i wouldn't mind either. One of Carter or Gionta would be scratched.. which neither deserve to be.

This line-up isn't bad at all, yeah Parise was great but if Lokti keeps improving at the pace he has been and IF Clarkson can get his scoring touch back a bit I legitimately think this group of forwards can do us well. If anything I'm more concerned about our D.

I was thinking the same thing we need to add a real high end talent to thia team no more cast aways i love elias but but he seems to be slipping a tiny bit this year and will only get worse moving forward that is the inly way i would move him and the only deal i would do for him would be a straight up trade of him for st louis but thats it he wont be moved though and for that reason we do need to add another high end piece we still havent replaved parise what are we going to do when patty isnt put up the numbers and we dont have replacements for them we will be in trouble

I don't think Jokinen is as bad as his stats line say this season. I think the extra year on his contract was why he was waived, especially after Semin's new contract. I know he was playing center for a little bit and that's not his natural position. His value in the shootout also shouldn't be overlooked, but that's ultimately why I think a team just outside the playoffs will grab him before we get a shot.

Move Elias? That's blasphemy! STONE HIM! STONE HIM!

Kidding. But yeah, the only thing I ever want to see Elias wear is a Devils' jersey. He's my favourite player in the league outside of goal, and I'm pretty sure many Devils fans out there feel the same.

He is my fav to and he wont ever be moved but and that is why we should bring in one more guy who is already established as a good player and can score before elias cant put the numbers up anymore i just dont think we have the time to let plauers from withib and expect them to take the places with out falling out of the play offs the next few years
